What is the definition of CBD?

CBD stands for cannabidiol – the second most common cannabinoid found in the cannabis species. THC is the other most common cannabinoid.

Where does CBD come from?

CBD is produced inside cannabis plants. CBD is produced by both marijuana and hemp plants. CBD is mostly produced in the resinous trichomes of cannabis flowers. Smaller concentrations of CBD can be found on the stalk and leaves of cannabis plants.

Is it legal?

All CBD products must contain <.3% THC and be derived from industrial Hemp to be considered federally legal. Certain states may have specific regulations on CBD.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The endocannabinoid system is the collection of cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoids, and enzymes involved in the production and break down of endocannabinoids. Endocannabinoids are naturally occurring cannabinoids found within our body. The two most studied endocannabinoids are anandamide and 2-AG. The two most studies cannabinoid receptors are CB1 and CB2.

Where are the CB1 receptors located?

CB1 receptors are located primarily in the central nervous system (the brain and spinal chord).

Where are the CB2 receptors located?

CB2 receptors are located primarily in the immune system.

What is the purpose of the endocannabinoid system?

The endocannabinoid system acts a homeostasis regulator in the body. Its purpose is to maintain balance.

HOW DOES A CANNABINOID WORK?

Cannabinoids generally work by binding to our body’s cannabinoid receptors (CB1 or CB2). Cannabinoids like CBD can work in other ways like by communicating with both cannabinoid and non-cannabinoid neurotransmitters and receptors within the body.

What is the difference between Phytocannabinoids, endocannabinoids and synthetic cannabinoids?

Phyto-cannabinoids are cannabinoids that are naturally produced and found in plants. Endocannabinoids are cannabinoids naturally produced by the body. Synthetic cannabinoids are not naturally produced, but rather man made in a lab.

How do I use it?

There are a number of different applications including topicals for external use, sublingual and edibles for internal use, inhalation, as well as transdermal and suppositories. One or several applications can be used depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

CAN YOU GET HIGH OFF OF CBD?

CBD is not psychoactive in the way that THC is psychoactive and it will not get you high. However CBD can have an effect on your mental state. Many users of CBD report feeling a very subtle feeling of relaxation, alertness, or mental clarity from taking CBD.

Will I fail a drug test?

Read carefully. From CBD specifically, no… however this depends largely on the type of CBD product consumed. Drug test are specifically testing for THC , not CBD. If the product is full spectrum, it contains THC. If you are concerned about getting tested, you will want to steer clear of full spectrum products. Instead, look for Broad Spectrum (THC FREE) and Isolate based products. Even so, a FALSE POSITIVE is always possible, and if this happens to be the case, we recommend demanding a retake. Always be sure to check the COAs to verify there is no detectable THC in your products.

Is there such thing as “too much CBD”?

CBD is non-toxic and there is no potential for fatal overdose. However, our bodies can only absorb so much CBD. This means the rest will be flushed out of your body without being used. Some people have also experienced minor side effects including sleepiness and headache. If you experience any negative side effects, it is most likely because you are taking an excessive amount and may want to consider scaling back to a lower dose.

IS CBD OIL ADDICTIVE?

No, CBD is not known to be an addictive drug. In fact, CBD has shown strong potential to be a useful tool to help people break addictions to harmful substances.

What is the difference between “CBD Isolate,” “Broad Spectrum,” and “Full Spectrum” CBD?

Isolate is the CBD molecule isolated from the rest of the plant chemicals. Broad spectrum contains more than one plant chemical but not all (typically the THC is removed). Full spectrum means that all naturally occurring plant chemicals are still intact, including THC.

IS CBD WATER SOLUBLE?

WHAT IS THE ENTOURAGE EFFECT?

The entourage effect is a synergistic relationship of the naturally occurring compounds found in cannabis plants. The cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids found in cannabis have shown to work better when they are taken together as opposed to in isolation from each other.

Can my pets use it?

YES! All animals with a backbone have the same Endocannabinoid System (ECS) as we do and they respond very well to CBD. Pet friendly products will either be marketed specifically for animals, or will display some sort of “pet friendly” indicator.

Can CBD interact with my medications?

Yes. CBD is metabolized by a group of enzymes called the CYP450. These enzymes are responsible for metabolizing many commonly used drugs. CBD can inhibit the activity of the CYP450 enzymes. While CBD-drug interactions are more likely with high doses of CBD and CBD isolates, precaution must be taken when using CBD alongside life preserving medications for serious conditions (i.e. epilepsy medications).

What is the difference between Hemp Extract, Hemp Oil & CBD? Hemp Seed Oil?

Many people interchange these words, and many times incorrectly. “Hemp Extract,” and “Hemp Oil,” will typically refer to the full – or broad spectrum oils mentioned previously. These oils are extracted from the areal parts (flowers and leaves) of the plant. When using the word, “CBD,” it can mean any three (isolate, broad spectrum or full spectrum), but in most cases, it will mean CBD isolate (also extracted from areal parts of the plant). Other people refer to “Hemp Oil” when speaking about “Hemp Seed Oil,” which is pressed oils from the seeds of the plant. Hemp Seed Oil contains no detectable cannabinoids (neither THC, nor CBD, etc.) and should not be mistaken for CBD related products. Hemp Seed Oil is a great nutritional supplement, containing healthy fats, proteins, and other trace minerals. Hemp Seed Oil can also be used as a great CARRIER OIL for CBD, as CBD is fat soluble and needs a fat to be absorbed by your body.

WHAT ARE TERPENES?

Terpenes are essential oils found in plants. There are around 200 terpenes in cannabis. They are what give cannabis its distinct aroma and flavor. Terpenes have beneficial effects and work synergistically with cannabinoids like CBD and THC – this relationship is called the entourage effect.

CAN ANYONE BUY CBD OIL?

Yes. Anyone living in a state or country where it is legal to use CBD can buy CBD oil. CBD oil may be purchased over the counter without a prescription. In the state of Virginia, only people over the age of 21 can purchase and possess Hemp flower. Different states may have different CBD laws in place.

Do the products you sell contain THC?

Some products do, some products don’t. Products that contain CBD Isolate or Broad Spectrum CBD should be THC Free. Full Spectrum products will always contain trace amounts (<.3%) of THC. To verify whether a specific product is truly “non-detectable” of THC, view the associated Certificate of Analysis.

Are these products 3rd party lab tested?

How much should I take?

There are no dosing requirements. The efficacy of the serving size depends on the individual person. We encourage you to experiment until you find a serving size that works best for you! Keep in mind that CBD is very concentrated, so it is important to start low and increase gradually. Also, remember that each product contains a different amount of CBD, so it is important to always read the bottle. CBD content will be measured by “mg” (milligrams).

HOW DO YOU TAKE A CBD TINCTURE?

CBD tinctures are taken by placing the dose under the tongue where it can be absorbed sublingually – through the mucous membrane in the mouth. Try to keep the CBD tincture under your tongue for 30 – 60 seconds. The longer you can hold, usually the better it will absorb.

How long before I start to feel it?

This also depends largely on the individual person. It also depends on the form of application that you use. It can take up to several weeks to be fully circulating throughout the bloodstream, so we encourage you to be consistent with your initial serving size for several weeks before adjusting your dose.
