What are CBN Edibles?

CBN edibles are foods infused with CBN, a cannabinoid that is the byproduct of oxidized THC. CBN edibles are mostly used for CBN’s relaxing and sedating properties. Despite being structurally similar to THC, CBN edibles offer a virtually non-intoxicating experience with diverse health benefits including anti-inflammation and mental relaxation.

What exactly is CBN, and how does it differ from other cannabinoids?

CBN, or cannabinol, is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in cannabis plants. Unlike other cannabinoids such as THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol), which are typically more abundant and well-known, CBN is often present in smaller quantities.

CBN is unique in that it is formed through the degradation of THC, particularly when cannabis is exposed to oxygen and light over time. This degradation process converts THC into CBN, which is why aged cannabis tends to have higher levels of CBN. Cannabinol is less psychoactive than THC, and is known for its sedating and pain-regulating properties.

Do CBN edibles get you high?

The psychoactive experience of CBN is different from that of THC. THC is well-known for its potent intoxicating effects, often resulting in euphoria, altered perception, and heightened sensory experiences. CBN is considered “mildly intoxicating,” because some individuals experience sedation or a sense of relaxation when consuming CBN, however, most consumers do not report feeling “high” from CBN.

Certain edibles contain both CBN and THC, and may produce an intoxicating effect. CBN can amplify the effects of THC (and vice versa), so be aware when consuming both cannabinoids together.

How long does it take for CBN edibles to take effect, and how long do effects last?

The onset of effects from CBN edibles can vary depending on factors such as metabolism and the individual’s tolerance to cannabinoids, but effects from CBN edibles are typically felt within 30 minutes to 2 hours after consumption. Effects can last anywhere between 4-12 hours, which makes CBN edibles ideal people who need help staying asleep!

How can consumers determine the appropriate dosage of CBN edibles?

Effects can be felt with just 5mg of CBN, although some users may require up to 20+mg of CBN to reach desired effects. Individual tolerances can vary based on a number of factors including one’s metabolism, chemical composition, other cannabinoids and terpenes consumed, and more.

If CBN is combined with THC, the effects of each cannabinoid may be enhanced. It is recommended to start with a low dose of CBN edibles and gradually increase as needed while monitoring the effects.
